The White House announced yesterday that it would open up parts of the American coast for oil drilling as a compromise to help bring about environmental and climate legislation and reduce our dependence on foriegn oil. Seems a little backwards to protect the environment by cutting into it, and why not reduce dependence by researching other sources of fuel?

A recent court ruling states that DNA cannot be patented. Call me crazy, but this seems like a no brainer to me. Of course, I have basically no knowledge of the biotechnical field; however, I guess we’ll try to get a copyright for anything to get a profit. What’s next, copyrighting the genes that give people good hair?
